We are very pleased to announce that the Chief Executive of the HK Monetary Authority, Mr Eddie Yue, has kindly agree to address members over lunch on topics including: Hong Kong’ position as a forward-looking international financial centre capitalising on the opportunities arising from the opening-up of Mainland China; green and sustainable finance; and the fintech development of Hong Kong. Coming at a time of fast-paced changes in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, the need to hear directly from key policy makers is increasingly important.

UK-HK/China bilateral - a government policy view from each side

Date: Monday 11th March

Time: from 6.30pm

With war coverage dominating the news, it seems that China has been relegated to the sidelines, generally covered by the MSM in simplistic soundbites, lacking all nuance and depth. Yet ignoring the what’s happening in China and the UK’s bilateral relationship with the world’s second largest economy would be a mistake.

Gloucestershire Region Chinese New Year Lunch

On 10 February, the Rabbit moves over and gives pride of place to the powerful and auspicious Dragon, so what could be more appropriate than a return trip (for many of us) to The Golden Mountain Restaurant in Cheltenham – particularly as it worked exceptionally well back in April!?

Regional Lunch in Gloucestershire

Date: Wednesday 19th April 2023

Last year we held a rather delightful lunch to celebrate the start of the Year of the Tiger. The venue was a Chinese Restaurant in Winchcombe St, Cheltenham, which I then described thus: Pretty much everyone who’s lived in HK had a favourite small Chinese restaurant which was a block or so off a main road, neither posh (nor expensive) but with really pleasant staff, reliably delicious and relatively authentic food - a good place both to drop into after a long day and to take visitors. Well, an approximation to that favourite exists in Cheltenham.

Is Art for beauty, for profit, or both? The art market has proved a resilient diversifier in stock and bond market downturns - yet remains volatile. This seminar aims to give you a holistic overview of the art market with Chinese characteristics, from sourcing the art, protecting your investment, through to the end game of selling or inheriting renowned Asian art experts, Calvin Hui (co-founder of 3812 Gallery) and Colin Sheaf (former Deputy Chairman of Bonhams); and Holly Samuel of Forsters LLP, to discuss the opportunities and potential pitfalls faced by collectors.
