Gloucestershire Mid-Autumn Festival Lunch 2026

Gloucestershire Region Mid-Autumn Festival Lunch

Wednesday 14 October 2026

The Royal Oak, Cheltenham

I am delighted to be able to let you know that the next Gloucestershire Region lunch will take place on Wed 14 October. You may consider it difficult to think already about autumnal weather and shorter days – but I know that HK Society members have hectic forward social/travel schedules!

You will see that, as is traditional, the lunch will be at The Royal Oak in Prestbury, Cheltenham – which always delivers the goodies. Menu (including welcome drink, canapés, two-course lunch, bottle of wine/table and tea/coffee – oh, and moon cake!) is under discussion, and the prices will be just fractionally higher than last year (when they were £39 for members, £48 for non-members). Even more importantly, the food will be delicious, and the company great fun

We shall also be entertained by author Simon Roberts:

“Simon joined the Royal Hong Kong Police in 1979. In the years that followed, he worked in almost every corner of the Territory and in every aspect of policing: in district crime, anti-triad and vice squads, major crime (and its prevention), Marine, and even as a court prosecutor. He was also one of the few expatriates in the Police who served through and after the Handover, having been promoted to Detective Superintendent. His book, Hong Kong Beat, which is fast-paced and often hilarious, draws on his voluminous correspondence throughout this period; and his talk is a wide-ranging and humorous distillation of these adventures and experiences”

I shall look forward to hearing from you in the near future and, of course, to seeing you in October.
