HKS North-East: Sunderland Maritime Heritage

  • Sunderland, England United Kingdom (map)

After a very successful visit to Teesport in 2018, HKSNE are planning a guided visit to Sunderland Maritime Heritage, in recognition of the links between Hong Kong and Sunderland as two great ports with unique maritime heritages.

At one time Sunderland was the biggest shipbuilding city in the world, and situated in the Old Town, Sunderland Maritime Heritage has workshops and a visitor centre/museum that keep that story alive today.

On the day

The 2-hour tour will start at 10.30 am at Unit 2, Church St East, Sunderland SR1 2BB. There is free parking adjacent.

We will then adjourn to a Chinese restaurant named Bar Shu Impression, at 4 Fawcett St, SR1 1SJ, in central Sunderland, 5 minutes walk from the St Mary’s multi-storey carpark, for a Dim Sum lunch.

The visit will take place on Thursday 7th September.

If you are able to attend, can you please reply to this email accordingly by Friday 18th August. We envisage there will be a limit of about 20 people for the visit, and the price including lunch should be £30 per person. It should be a very interesting halfday and an excellent opportunity to get together again.

Please contact communications@hkas.org.uk to book.
