HK Business Network Seminar: Asian Art: Possession, Profits and Pitfalls

INVITATION to join the HK Business Network for a discussion on the joys and risks of building your Asian art collection with leading professionals

Is Art for beauty, for profit, or both? The art market has proved a resilient diversifier in stock and bond market downturns - yet remains volatile. As with all investments the trick is in selection and timing, but that is not the whole story.

We are privileged to have two renowned Asian art experts, Calvin Hui (co-founder of 3812 Gallery) and Colin Sheaf (former Deputy Chairman of Bonhams/ Chairman of the Percival David Foundation) to give us their insights into the selection and sale process, together with Holly Samuel of Forsters LLP, who will discuss the potential pitfalls faced by buyers and sellers.

This seminar aims to give you a holistic overview of the art market with Chinese characteristics, from sourcing the art, protecting your investment, through to the end game of selling or inheriting.

Date: Tuesday 21st February 2023

Time: 6 – 9pm (6.30-7.30pm seminar; 7.30-9pm networking canapés and drinks)

Venue: Mayfair location

This event is free to all HK Business Network members. Non-members may attend at a charge of £30 to be paid in advance.

Please register your interest with Fiona Duong at communications@hkas.org.uk indicating your full name, organisation and job title.

After 20 years in senior management positions, Colin Sheaf recently retired as deputy chairman and global head of Asian art at Bonhams to become an Asian art consultant with an emphasis on sourcing consignments. He remains an ambassador for the company.
